Be Still

Be still.

Sometimes I just need to remember that - to be still - when the day doesn't go as I wanted. It's not my plan. It's His. So I look to His word...and find comfort. I dig a little deeper and soak up the goodness.

רָפָה

raphah  - the Hebrew primitive root meaning "to leave off any thing, e.g. a work begun"

In this Psalm, I am instructed in absolute: "leave off (your own attempts) and know"

The 'know' stands out.

I now understand.

Until I set my attempts to control my world aside, I cannot know. I cannot know Him.

It's a relational thing.

In order to have a relationship with Him

...to KNOW Him

...I must BE STILL.
