It seems everywhere we turn, we are blasted by the consumerism of all the latest gadgets and technologies, fancy phones, clothes with logos...frijoles, even where you eat is instagrammed for all to see and envy.
The fact is this:
Our Needs Are Met
We truly need nothing. HOWEVER, our wants are great. I have teens. They want what their friends have. The mindset of feeling comfortable without the latest and greatest of everything is a difficult concept for them, because they think they need all that stuff to fit in...and in some circles, they probably do.
But that's not what Christmas is about. It's not about what's under your tree or in your stocking. It's about focusing on Him and His life-saving & miraculous birth. We are so loved.
So Loved
God sent His only Son into this world, to give us eternal life. So whoever believes in Him, won't pass away from this world and be no more. We will be with Him, the Light, the Everlasting God, the Creator of all.
In an effort to stay focused on Him this season, our family will gather each night and read a short bible verse, discuss what we heard, everyone sharing their thoughts, and review one of the names of Jesus.
Sounds like a lot, but it actually takes us no more than 10-15 minutes. We're a busy family with lots of projects, teens with active social lives and jobs, and time together is limited, yet precious. Over the years I've found
It doesn't have to be a grand production
to make a tradition memorable
Simple works. We do what works for us.
Okay. This post is much longer than I intended. Let's wrap it up with some Word Art. Check back each day for a new Advent - Names of Jesus jpg image. Save it, print it. It's my gift to you this Christmas.
