KJV - Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
NLT - I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.
This verse can be confusing...and misused by believers and non-believers alike. We really have to look at the verse prior to it. Jesus is telling us to bring everything to our Father, and to have faith.
Don't confuse this verse from your worldly perspective. God is not a genie in a bottle. He is not a wish-grantor. All the money and trappings of this world are not going to be gained by simply asking God for them.
He wants you to have faith in Him, to earnestly seek Him, to truly know His will for you. Believe. Be confident in Him. He is waiting for you.
I found Charles Spurgeon's sermon on Mark 11:24 to be quite helpful. If you have time to read it, check it out here: True Prayer--True Power!
